War of Ideas

"Liberty is freedom from arbitrary or despotic government or control; freedom from control, interference, obligation, restriction, hampering conditions, etc.; power or right of doing, thinking, speaking, etc., according to choice."

George Mason, Virginia Bill of Rights.

The Center for Liberty and Justice is dedicated to defeating enemies of freedom everywhere, specifically those salafi, takfiri, wahabbi, and khomienist terrorists (termed kharajites here) actively destabilizing much of the developing world through a campaign of murder and mayhem. This battle is one for hearts and minds, it is a war of ideas. Al-Qa’ida and like minded groups are engaged in this struggle at a grass roots level. Those that prize freedom must do likewise.

We must clearly communicate our message:
  • Every unimpaired man and women has an inherent capacity to think, reason, feel, make choices, and recognize consequences—their moral agency. To make those choices is the right of every human being, insofar as they do not interfere with the fundamental rights of another.

  • The kharajites argue that it is their duty to enforce God’s will as they interpret it, you must submit, be conquered, or die. They view freedom and agency as man-made concepts rather than divine gifts.

  • There is admittedly great risk in the agency of man—because we have the ability to choose, some have used their agency to commit crime, vice, and great wickedness throughout the earth. Yet because of agency, individuals and society are blessed as people make individual choices to improve their lives, love their neighbor, bear up the heavy laden, cloth the poor, feed the hungry, and develop enterprise and industry that improves the quality of life of mankind.

  • Charitable individuals and societies cannot be developed by compulsion.

  • The kharajites openly fight such notions declaring a duty to hate all who will not comply. The kharajites have no charity in them, but prize enmity.

  • We must be willing to do all within our power to fight this common enemy—those waging an open war on the agency of man. People of all societies must band together, speak out in the cause of agency and work to defeat the kharajites wherever they operate or have sanctuary.
